If you’re reading this, STOP.

Game of Thrones spoilers ahead!

Good… that should have lost her.

How are moms the greatest gift that we too often take for granted? My mom and I were oil and water during my [bitchy] teenage years, and now we have a genuine friendship that I cherish. She’s often the first person I turn to (besides Jonas, of course) if I need insight on life. I owe her so damn much and don’t think I’ll ever be able to articulate how grateful I am to have her.

If you feel similarly, then I’m sure you might be struggling with what to get your mom for this Mother’s Day. How do you show enough appreciation through a gift? My brother and I often just get her flowers for the occasion and go bigger for her birthday and Christmas, but I want to up my game a bit this round, because my mom once again went above-and-beyond in her maternal duties this past year. She seriously negotiated with a death metal bar owner to delay his grand finale concert so the music didn’t disrupt our wedding ceremony. All while in her Mother of the Bride dress, hair and makeup. Yeah… she’s a boss.

Mother’s Day is an amazing time to gift a sentimental item. I’ve had some photos printed of her and I on our wedding day that I’m planning to get framed as my gift this year. Other great ideas are photo books, a family “calendar” to help remember birthdays and other important dates, or an experience that you two can share together. If you and your mom aren’t full-on sappy like us, this is also a great time to treat her to something she wouldn’t get herself. Perhaps she could use a mani/pedi, some new clothes or shoes, or some refreshed home items. No matter what you choose, she’ll love that you put thought into finding something perfect for her.

Mother’s Day 2019 Gift Guide

Quarter-Life Living - Mother's Day Gift Guide 2019.jpg

  1. Travalo Perfume Atomizer $12.99 - This is one of my favorite go-tos that’s a perfect add-on to a larger gifts. It allows you to take your perfume with you wherever you go, and is a must for moms that travel or are perpetually on the move.

  2. MILK Books Premium Photo Book from $79 - I bought these for all three sets of our parents to commemorate our wedding day and thank them for all they did to make it so incredible. While there are endless photobook companies out there, MILK exceeded all with outstanding quality and timeless aesthetic.

  3. Kendra Scott Custom Charm Necklace Price Varies - I haven’t gotten one of these for mi Madre, but we got these for my sister-in-laws for Christmas now that they are moms. We got them the initial and birthstone of my nephews. I see them wear them all the time.

  4. SK Coffee Subscription from $15 - Give the gift of caffeine. Not only is SK Coffee delicious, but the packaging is so stylish that she’ll want to display it on her countertop!

  5. EKOBO Reusable Takeaway Cup $13.50 - This little gem is a great addition to the coffee subscription. It’s made of highly-renewable bamboo fiber, which is much more environmentally friendly than plastics or other wasteful materials. Let her sip coffee in style AND help reduce her carbon footprint.

  6. Minna Goods Tea Towels from $20 - I just snagged two of these beauties for my kitchen and I’m obsessed. They are ethically made in Oaxaca, Mexico, and are a hearty, woven texture perfect for kitchen or bathroom use.
