I don’t know about you, but as the weather continues to warm up, my social calendar continues to fill. I swear, as soon as the snow starts to melt, everyone puts their social butterfly wings on and starts to plan fun outings and events - and you won’t hear me complaining! I absolutely love hosting, especially now that we are in our first house and have ample room to do so.
Since moving into our home, we’ve thrown a Friendsgiving dinner, Christmas cookie bake day, 1st birthday party for my nephew, and hosted numerous out-of-town friends and family, and we are just getting started! I found out yesterday that one of my besties is having a baby girl, so I am going to throw her a shower in June to celebrate their new bundle. I’m already starting to plot out themes/colors/decor/games/food ideas, but before I commit to anything, I have to follow a very key step:
Nail the Invite
Your invitations set the stage for your event. While all the details of hosting are important, this first step helps you highlight your theme or general vibe, no matter the occasion. The saying goes, “don’t judge a book by its cover,” but I’ve definitely judged a party by the invite (sue me). Whether you’re throwing a fun or formal event, you want your stationery to look the part.
One of my favorite sources for ultra-stylish and affordable paper goods is Basic Invite. Not only do they have a ton of beautiful designs, but they also have a resource center to help with inspiration, etiquette, and wording. I seriously wish I had found them before we locked in our wedding invites, since it would have spared me the headache of navigating through proper messaging (like how to include that we have three sets of parents inviting guests to attend). At least I’ve got them for all future events now!
The other [major] thing I love about Basic Invite: their customization. While they have an endless array of styles, you can easily sort by theme to narrow down to options that align with your desired aesthetic. Then from there, the REAL fun begins. Once you lock in a design, you can start to make it yours by entering all your event info, selecting a paper shape and finish, adding any back layouts, adorning with foil, and… drumroll… choosing from over 180 colors to get every detail just right. You heard me. 180. And that is just for the invite itself. They also have 40 envelope colors to pick from. This is a game-changer for me, because I am extremely detail-oriented and want to be able to modify invite elements to match my event’s color palette.
I mean… just look at how fun and different these two looks are:
Hats Off to Grads
Not hosting a baby shower? Have no fear - Basic Invite has options for any event you could dream of. From birthdays to moving announcements, baptisms to retirement parties - they’ve got you covered. My sister-in-law is graduating from college this May, so we are hosting a graduation picnic for her. Seriously, that chica deserves a party after 4 years of hard work and all-nighters! I really love their designs for official graduation invitations or high school graduation party invitations also. It’s such an important milestone and deserves to be commemorated and celebrated. From a logistics standpoint, Basic Invite also makes it extremely easy to gather addresses (social media sharing for the win!) and then offer free recipient address printing on all card orders. The perks just keep on coming!
Check out all of Basic Invite’s awesome Graduation Picnic invitations - I’m eyeing up the Picnic Plaid design and customized it with her Alma mater’s colors.
