It’s been a while since I’ve highlighted a Maker of the Month, which means I’m overloaded with pent up props! Wintry temps have me craving coziness - Saturday morning, lounging on the couch, wrapped up in a chunky cardigan. The only thing missing from the visual is a mug of coffee. If that scene doesn’t sound amazing, then I don’t know what does!
With mugs on the mind, it’s without further ado that I call out the January MotM: Katie M. Mudd. Katie is a ceramist based out of Portland, Oregon. Not only does she have a perfectly fitting last name, she has incredible talent to boot. I first spotted her products at a boutique during a visit to Portland back in August, and was immediately drawn to her delicate swaths of color, paired with scattered dots. The style is a signature look of hers, and can be seen across several objects.
Katie handcrafts each piece, and despite claywork being messy and physically straining, she wears her passion proudly. “There is something so special and rewarding in knowing that through this crazy process I am making a piece that will become part of somebody else's life, and somebody else's story.”
