For the booze hounds out there, this title may have triggered thoughts of French brandy, but nix that in the bud! I’m talking about the deep amber hue that is found in oh-so-stylish leather goods. Animal lovers, have no fear! The color carries over into synthetic fabrics and other vegan-friendly materials.
What I love about cognac is its versatility. Though the color itself is rich, it can easily work with cool, warm, and neutral palettes. Depending on the dye used, you can find lighter or darker variations to match your space and taste. Lastly, it can easily look either lux or rugged depending on the accents you style it with.
I personally own two faux leather loveseats for our sun room - although not in cognac. Our house is pet and kid-free, so I asked some friends and family for their take on leather-upholstered furniture and received mixed reviews. Some had positive remarks, since it’s much easier to clean pet hair and spills, but others have said claw marks and scuffs can cause brutal wear-and-tear. The jury is out on the practicality, but the style alone paired with a brilliant cognac tone is A+ in my books.
