I've been ridiculously excited to share this latest Store Spotlight, as it is easily one of my favorite discoveries from Kansas City. Golden & Pine is a home and garden store in the heart of KC (Brookside to be exact) that sources ethically made goods from around the globe. From cheese platters to woven benches, each item has a story to tell, and Golden & Pine shares them by including some details about the artisan or artist behind each piece throughout the shop.
I met Stephanie, the owner of Golden & Pine, at a holiday market in KC in October 2015, and immediately fell in love with the aesthetic of her booth and her brand. After a quick coffee date, I asked if she would be interested in having me "intern" for her - helping out with pop-up shops and other events while she prepared to open her store in the Spring of 2016. I put intern in quotation marks because I was also working full-time, so this was a passion project that I simply could not pass up on for nights/weekends. Getting to help Steph as she was pursuing her dream was an incredible experience, and has motivated me to start making my steps towards my own career aspirations (you know... like this blog you are reading).
Golden & Pine has a bright future ahead, and has received love from numerous publications including this incredible shout out from Vogue (pretty sure I shrieked when I saw Steph mention the article - I mean... it's VOGUE). Now, for all you non-KCers out there, HAVE NO FEAR: G&P launched their online store in December, so now you can score some beautiful crafted pieces for your home AND feel good about where they come from. I currently have two throw pillows (snag one of them here), a pair of hanging ceramic planters, and a candle from G&P, and I know it is just the beginning to a sizable array. Check out some of my favorite items currently available, plus some dreamy Instagram inspo, plus let me know your favorite piece in the comments!
