If you know me, then you know in addition to loving interior styling, I also love make up styling. Sephora is basically my holy land. I am also an elitist and refuse to go to the ones inside of JC Penney because they simply don't cut it (half the brands? No thank you.). Whether you are a VIB or a novice, here are some tips to create a little glam station in your home.
1. LIGHT THE WAY
Despite having limited square footage, I've made the desk in our bedroom dual-purpose for working and primping. When scouting a spot for a vanity, the main thing to focus on is lighting. The last thing you need is to get in your car and realize your foundation isn't blended enough. Our desk is perfectly nested right next to a window, but if natural lighting is limited, you can always get a lighted make up mirror.
2. STASH + STOW
After you've found your spot, you want to make sure it doesn't become a cluttered mess. Drawers are ideal (drawer organizers are a "must"), but there are plenty of other options. Remember Caboodles cases? Well now you can get the adult version by buying some acrylic storage units. Arrange your perfumes, a decorative object or two, and a candle in a tray and voila! You're prepping style.
3. TOTE YOUR TOOLS
Similar to #2, you want to make sure your tools don't become a jumbled mess. Keep your make up brushes tidy by storing them in a cup or jar. For hair tools, you can get a wire basket for underneath the vanity to keep them organized - just make sure you let them cool before putting them away.
