HYGGE

Hygge (HOO-gah)

Origin: Denmark, Norway

A quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.

This Danish concept has been a craze recently, and has manifested into a love of candles, chunky throw blankets, crackling fires, cozy pajamas, frothy lattes, fuzzy slippers - anything and everything that makes you want to cuddle up and soak in the moment. Autumn is the perfect season to start to think about how you can Hygge up your own home.

1. Create Your Nook

Perhaps it's the couch, perhaps it's a big armchair, but find a spot to make your lounge zone. Load it up with pillows and a nice, warm blanket.

2. Dim Those Lights

Nothing sets a cozy mood like dim lighting. If you have dimmer switches, drop them nice and low. If not, turn to candles to create a more tranquil space.

3. Start a Nightly Ritual

Block a little time to decompress. Do yoga, read a book, drink some tea, take a bath. Just do something that makes you calm and helps you unwind from your day.

Here are some ideas to help you get #comfy.
