Random fact about me: I all-caps LOVE to surprise people. If there is an opportunity for me to do so, I take it. Always. I've seriously gone to ridiculous lengths to shock people, with the most recent being flying to Kansas City and showing up on my friend Cait's doorstep at 8 AM for her birthday weekend. Her reaction was amazing, and made it well-worth the 5:30 AM flight.
Beyond getting to see Cait, I also love having an excuse to visit KC. There are staples I always want to go to whenever I am back, but for this weekend I made a point to visit Monarch Coffee. This little shop opened after I moved to Denver, but has been popping up on my Insta feed ever since, so I knew I had to check it out for myself.
If you've set foot in a local coffee shop in the last few years, then you've seen the cookie cutter industrial-style done over and over again. This is exactly why I was so psyched to visit Monarch - it is a fresh change of pace from a style standpoint. Well people.... It did not disappoint. I walked in and was immediately mesmerized by the beauty of the space. The retro hexagonal flooring, ornate ceiling tiles, round coffee bar, cafe seating, and striking floral wallpaper in cool hues, EVERYTHING was perfection. We spent 2 hours there, catching up, sipping our lattes, and ogling over the decor. It was a wonderful kick-off to a great weekend!
